Organisation
Make each farm self-sufficient
The Burka Coffee Estates are organised in a balanced manner, dividing the lands between coffee cultivated areas totalling 630 hectares, and the remaining 285 hectares which are allotted to forests, grass and bush lands, woodlots, and housing, villages and roads. Senior staff organization is broken into distinct departments, ranging from Coffee Production, Quality Control, Infrastructure, Finances to Human Resources and Public Relations. The farms each have their own manager, factories, water source, financial backing and human resources department. The organization of the estates is thus implemented in a manner that makes each farm self-sufficient, yet part of an entrepreneurial, comprehensive and tight-knit whole.

Set-up
Designed to maximize efficiency

The heart of the two estates is the Headquarters and operational centre located on Burka Coffee Estate, which accommodates the management offices, accounts department, personnel offices and cupping kitchen. Next to this there is the Farm Centre with estate offices, a security headquarter, the workshop and stores. The farms are equipped with fuel stations, nurseries, storages, and other outlets in order to provide logistical and support services to the estates. Two processing factories and a coffee nursery complete the main infrastructure. As with the estates organizational framework, the infrastructure is designed to maximize self-sufficiency and efficiency, while maintaining a comprehensive operational centre.
