Burka Coffee Estates has created its own corporate responsibility program, consisting of a number of policy handbooks dealing with codes of conduct. It is this stringent regard for a conscientious approach to subjects like conservation, chemical application and social issues that has made the estates a frequent recipient of various awards and certificates. Over the years various certificates were proudly amassed, most notably among them the National Social Security Fund Certification of Appreciation, and the Pangani Basin Certificate of Appreciation awarded by the Ministry of Water in recognition of Burka’s long-standing preservation and responsible management efforts. Moreover, Burka has received the Starbucks CAFE Practices Strategic Supplier Certificate.

Strong conservational efforts
The company also holds various water and environmental awards in tribute to its strong corporate responsibility and conservational efforts. To name a few, Burka has received the Arusha Municipal Certificate of Award, for the management of Burka’s water sources. The Managing Director has also received the City Hero and Hero Award by the Arusha Municipal Environmental Competition, while Burka Coffee Estates as a whole has also received the Conservation Award from the Arusha Municipal Environmental Competition. In total Burka Coffee Estates has had the distinct honour of receiving fourteen various awards.
